We hosted our first (hoping to be annual) Gay Sailing Day in Dublin Bay, Ireland! Event details here.
We raised the pride flag at the main mast of the Royal St. George Yacht Club for the FIRST TIME EVER! Which is a great sign of respect in the maritime world we have been told. And from there we actually we stuck pride flags everywhere we possibly could from the main Yacht Club Mast, the deck, the masts of all the boats.
We then took a crew of the boys out on Dublin Bay on a fleet of sail boats.
We went into the water as gays. But we came out sailors! Well…gay sailors!
Once we got into the swing of sailing we had a few races too which we won’t fully get into because for some reason when we started the race our boat decided to stop catching the breeze at any level to the point we were actually drifting backwards!! WE LITERALLY DRIFTED BACKWARDS BEHIND THE FINISH LINE! But whatever. Not bitter at all! Haha
Check out how it went:
After a full day of sailing we were all happy enough to head back to the club for buffet BBQ and more importantly, a few celebratory drinks! The club even made a cocktail list just for the event!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out. As always, was great to see so many friends and to meet so many new ones.
And huge thanks to Troy our friend and lead sailing instructor for the day for helping make it all happen!
Stay tuned for more events coming up this year and for next year when we go for Round 2 of Gay Sailing! And check out another boat party we hosted recently at Amsterdam Pride for the Canal Parade!
